Class Activity:

  • Diagram a tree with the class and explain how tree products can come from wood, bark, sap, leaves, roots and cellulose.
  • Give each student an old magazine with plenty of advertising pictures.
  • Have each student cut out five items made with tree products.
  • Ask students to identify tree products they cut out and what part of the tree they think each came from.
  • Let students paste pictures on large poster paper, 1 poster for each part of the tree that products come from (wood, bark, sap, leaves, roots and cellulose).
