Basic Interagency Prescribed Fire Course |
| Course Overview: This 40 hr.
course is designed to train personnel in the basics of prescribed
fire management. The course is designed for students with
little or no prescribed fire knowledge or experience. Depending
on weather conditions, live fire exercises will be held. |

. Smoke management
. Planning, mop-up, and evaluation
. Rx Fire objectives
. Fire weather and fire behavior
. Firing techniques
. Holding & contingencies
. Rx fire management |
Prerequisites: |
None. Students will need to obtain full Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE), including Nomex pants & shirt,
8" leather boots, fire shelter, hard hat, leather gloves,
eye protection and ear plugs. |
Course Standards: |
For successful completion a minimum score
of 80% must be obtained on the combined scores of the pre-work
assignment and the final exam. |
